Water Safety in Newcastle & the Hunter Region

From Newcastle's city beaches to Port Stephens — drone, jet ski and event water safety crews.

Servicing the Hunter & Newcastle region

The Hunter coastline from Catherine Hill Bay through Newcastle and up to the Tea Gardens-Hawks Nest peninsula covers a striking range of water environments — Newcastle's city beaches with their famous baths, the long open beaches of Stockton and Birubi Point, the working port and harbour, and the sheltered bays of Port Stephens. Coastal Water Safety Australia services the Hunter Region with the same drone shark surveillance, event water safety and search and rescue capability we deploy across the Mid North Coast — typically with under three hours' notice from our Port Macquarie base.

The Hunter & Newcastle coastline

Newcastle is a serious surf city. Merewether and Bar Beach run national surf comps, the Newcastle ocean baths and the Bogey Hole complicate the safety picture, and Stockton's exposed open beach has its own erosion and rip pattern. Port Stephens to the north — Nelson Bay, Shoal Bay, Fingal Bay and One Mile — is the dolphin capital of NSW and a busy summer destination. We work with Newcastle City Council, Port Stephens Council, Surf Life Saving Hunter Branch and a range of event organisers to provide professional water safety across the region.
